Hmm
So I decided on writing a proper blog post.. So here goes.
I've recently been wondering if globalisation and wondering if there is a purpose of making the entire world as one as per say.
What if we all had a universal currency one day, and no borders?
All sense of national feeling would be instantly lost, and I think you would end up feeling strangely lost, without a place to really call home.
I love my country, and even though I don't always consider it "home", I still feel incredibly happy when I turn back home.
And without a national feeling, there would be no competition between countries, no place can deem themselves "better" than the other country.
Without it, I'm afraid the world would become dull, and incomplete. Or the completely opposite, full of violence, because no one knows where they belong exactly, or who they can identify themselves with.
Who would rule over everyone? Who would become "president" or "king" of the world, if all borders were eliminated? Is it even possible to find one, or would everyone commit mutiny to get to the top?
We would end up in a society as foul and full of deceit as it was a thousand years ago, or more.
A globalised world isn't bad, but if it one day takes control, and we forget our own national identity, who are we then? I take pride in calling myself Danish, even though it's a small unimportant country in the world perspective. But what would I call myself if it all got out of control? "citizen of the world"? Or perhaps "citizen of the northern hemisphere"? I don't know, but I don't ever want to get to that point.
